Catching Yabies - Part I

This was a very hot and dry day, perfect for catching yabies (a sort of huge prawn) by the pond.

Henny preparing the net with bait: barbecued lamb on the bone. Mostly bone, of course. Lamb is too delicious to be wasted as bait.

Marie throwing the net.

And then we just have to wait for a couple of hours.

And get some well deserved refreshments. Catching yabies is really exhausting! :-)

Eedie and her favorite Beer Girl stubby holder.

John the farmer, at work.

Enjoying a splash.

Oh dear, could I be more pale and could my legs be any shorter? Don't think so. It was a very good catch, though! Maybe about 30 yabies all in all.

To be continued...

  1. Marie, you should have told me to remove the spare tyre from around my waist before photographing me!!!
Yum, I think I'll go catch a few yabbies now!

  2. You so silly. I should put that tire around my chest then :-))
    Enjoy the catch!

  3. Ha ha ha!!! I left the nets in all night! I should have hundreds by now!
    Love your new pic!!

  4. Oh nooooo, maybe you caught ALL of them and we won't have any left for next year :-(( Try to throw back one male and one female.
