One thing that stroke me when walking the streets of american cities is the amount of coin operated laundries (and cleaners as well. Dry cleaners? I don't know). I was reminded of it yesterday when I watched My Beautiful Laundrette, a 1985 movie by Stephen Frears starring young Daniel Day-Lewis. I thought it was a remarkable movie in many aspects and I was mesmerised by the poetry of the images that were offered to the viewer. I will no doubt watch it again. Meanwhile I wrote a few lines about it…
