Cat Café

I went to my first cat café the other day, Nekorobi in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. I took a day off on a Friday so it wasn't crowded, which is good. The café is quite nice. Well, it's not exactly a café per se, nobody comes and serves you drinks, but there is a free vending machine (yes, free!!) and you can have all sorts of beverages. You can also play cards, board games, watch YouTube or Hulu Japan on TV (maybe even sing karaoke? I don't know, I was too shy to ask but I really wanted to), do your Wii workout (who remembers those days?) or use the free WiFi while playing with the cats.
The twelve or so cats are beautiful, really well taken care of and most of them are... huuuuuuge. I have to say I was a little bit intimidated around them! Kudos on the owners to keep the place absolutely immaculate. I might go back to play with the black and white kitten with the funny moustache whose name I don't know. He was the cutest poupie ever.

I'm puzzled, as always :-)) Haven't got a clue. And because I know you like the Tokyo Metro, here are two (not one, two!) bonus posters for you:

Behind the Kameido Shrine

I completely forgot that I still had a few pictures from the Kameido area. The streets behind the shrine (the one with the Wisteria) are quite interesting for a quiet stroll. The typical local downtown, authentic and laid back. I also realised how rusty I got at street photography, and how much more self conscious I am when it comes to taking pictures of people or their shops/belongings. Getting old...

A rather scary guardian-of-the-groceries.

OK, someone went very creative with their veggies! I had to laugh. And what's that "decoration" in the middle? :-))

Take a nap. I thought that was called a beer?

A small restaurant kitchen open towards the street.

The whole street is a path leading to a small shrine (after all my posts about shrines you must be very good at spotting shrine gates by now - cf picture 1, 2). Green and peaceful, like an oasis in the city. The stage on the premises was packed with armours waiting to be used for a show the week after. I wish I had more pictures but… I don't :-((
