Bonsai on the Balcony and Man in Fog

I got such a sweet postcard in the mail the other day from David Stafford. Bonsai on Balcony refers to this particular balcony of course :-)) Spot on, David, it looks exactly like you imagined it.

The other side of the card is a story of Monkey Ladies and Kale Rooting Hormone. Kale rooting hormone which, as everyone knows, is an important component of radioactive pasta.

Oh yes, there was a day when I was a Sweet Pea. Then a Sweat Pee. And then just a P. I don't know how David knows all those things but this card got me all wiggy :-)) It must be time for my protein pills...

Taken from the dust of the earth, these books became something else, data images that happened in Ether Realms.  It’s always trying to breathe new life into old ideas - like us, they’re never quite ready to die.

the work of a potter [shaping soil into pages]

the work of a writer [chiseling words out of sodden earth]

the work of a gardener [growing roots across fields]

the work of an architect [building stories through dust]

the work of a musician [composing songs engraved in ether]

The beauty of those clay books needed no enhancement, their stunning naked aura was evident to any eyes curious enough to see. But one can always demand more of books…

Shameless Self-Promotion Thursday (3) - The Tokyo Art Book Fair 2014

Good news! The Bookworm's Lunch and a few members of the Art Byte Critique group will participate in the 2014 Tokyo Art Book Fair organised by Zine's Mate, September 19-21. Yaay!
I would like to say come and see us, but I know that crossing oceans isn't exactly like hopping on a downtown bus. Or the streetcar named Desire :-)) In any case, I'm looking forward to the event and it will be thoroughly documented for the Suitcase.
